The 2018 SeNSS Summer Conference will take place from 2 to 4 July 2018, at the University of Kent.

This event will bring together doctoral students and academics across the range of social sciences for talks, training and competition. This event is primarily intended to showcase the excellence of our students (via our competitions), to hear talks on issues relevant across the disciplines and to give an opportunity for disciplinary and interdisciplinary networking.

Conference Theme

The theme of the 2018 conference is Social Sciences’ Issues in Europe and Beyond.

Conference Programme

The programme of events will include:

  • Keynote academic talks, including a panel discussion on European political challenges
  • Pecha Kutcha Competition
  • Poster competition
  • Talks on How to keep on top of your PhD, and What to do after your PhD

There will also be sessions run for you by your disciplinary Pathway Groups, and plenty of time to socialise, and get to know each other, including a BBQ on the second night, and punting on the river Stour.

A timetable and full details of the programme for the day will be published on this page in due course.

Current SeNSS ESRC-funded students can claim their travel costs (up to reasonable limit) from the SeNSS Student Cohort and Development Fund.
