BUSINESS BOOST iTEAMS 2020 PROGRAMME

As part of the iTeams programme, PhD students worked as consultants with Essex and Suffolk businesses to develop new commercial strategies and build links between industry and universities.

The programme, which utilised the model originating with MiT and University of Cambridge, was delivered entirely online between 19th October and 15th December 2020.

The online sessions built up to a live final event where the students from five different universities presented their solutions to a business challenge to the business and a panel of judges.

The six teams that took part included students from institutions across SeNSS, including the University of Essex, the University of East Anglia, the University of Surrey, Royal Holloway, University of London, and the University of Sussex.

The businesses and organisations setting challenges were Suffolk-based wealth management company Brewin Dolphin, tattoo studio Monumental Ink, which has branches in Colchester and Ipswich, and Colchester Business Enterprise Agency Colbea.

Peak Performers, made up of students from Essex, Surrey and Royal Holloway, was the overall winner after working with Brewin Dolphin. They developed ideas for a new service which would provide business mentoring and financial advice to a younger generation of high net worth clients.
